What the app can do

  • Create and edit lightweight sticky notes.
  • Pin one note to the iPhone or iPad widget.
  • Share, duplicate, delete, print, or export notes.
  • Manage notes from the Mac menu bar and Notes Library.
  • Attach Mac notes to the app you are currently using.

How It Works

On iPhone and iPad

  1. Open the app and start typing in the current note.
  2. Tap the stack button to open your notes list.
  3. Tap the plus button to create a new note.
  4. Use the share button to send the current note to other apps.
  5. Use the more menu to duplicate, pin, or delete the current note.
  6. Choose a color from the bottom palette.

The iOS editor also includes a math toolbar. You can enter simple expressions such as additions, percentages, multiplication, or division and use the equals button to resolve them inline.

Widget and sync

  1. Choose the note you want to feature.
  2. Pin it from the app so the widget can prioritize it.
  3. If nothing is pinned, the widget shows the most recently updated note.
  4. Open the app at least once before adding the widget for the first time.

Notes can refresh across compatible Apple devices through Apple's sync infrastructure when it is available on your devices and Apple account. Final widget refresh timing is still controlled by iOS.

On Mac

  1. Open Simple Stickies from the menu bar.
  2. Use Quick note or New note to create a sticky.
  3. Open Notes Library to browse, search, and filter saved notes.
  4. Use the current note actions to share, export as PDF, print, duplicate, or delete.
  5. Choose the window mode that fits your workflow: always visible or visible when in use.
  6. Enable launch at login if you want notes ready when your Mac starts.

App context on Mac

App context lets a note belong to a specific app, so it becomes more relevant when you are working in that app.

  1. Select a note from a sticky window, the menu bar list, or Notes Library.
  2. Choose Attach to Current App or attach it to a recent app from the available list.
  3. Once attached, the note is treated as an app-context note instead of a global note.
  4. Use the Current App filter in the menu or Notes Library to focus on notes relevant to the app you are using.
  5. If you want the note everywhere again, choose Convert to Global Note.

Global notes can appear across your workflow. App-context notes are better for task-specific reminders, reference snippets, or notes you only want while using a particular Mac app.

FAQ

How do I show a note in the widget?

Open the iOS app, choose the note you want, and tap the pin action. The widget will show the pinned note. If nothing is pinned, it shows the most recently updated note instead.

Do notes sync between devices?

They can refresh across compatible Apple devices through Apple's sync services when available. Local widget data is also shared on-device so the iPhone or iPad widget can display the pinned or latest note.

What is a global note versus an app-context note?

A global note is available across your workflow. An app-context note is attached to a specific Mac app, which helps you keep certain notes tied to the app where they matter most.

How do I attach a note to the current app on Mac?

Open the note actions menu from the sticky window, the menu bar, or the Notes Library and choose Attach to Current App. You can later convert that note back to a global note at any time.

Can I export or print notes on Mac?

Yes. The Mac version supports sharing note text, exporting the current note as a PDF, and printing a note from the current note actions menus.

Can I use Siri or Shortcuts?

On supported iPhone and iPad setups, Simple Stickies includes app shortcuts to add text to the active note and to clear the current stickies content.

Why does the widget not update immediately?

Editing or pinning a note triggers a refresh request, but widget updates are still scheduled by the system. If a widget seems stale, open the app again and give iOS a moment to refresh it.

Does the app collect user data?

No. Simple Stickies does not collect user data for the developer. You can read the full details on the privacy policy page.

Troubleshooting tips

  • Make sure the app is installed and opened at least once.
  • On iPhone or iPad, reopen the widget gallery if the widget does not appear right away.
  • On Mac, confirm the app is running if you expect menu bar access.
  • If a Mac note seems missing, check whether it was attached to another app context.
  • Use Notes Library search and filters if you cannot find an older note.
  • Try editing or pinning a note again if the widget content looks outdated.
